I’ve listened to a bit of Alan Watts in the morning. In a short segment, he said something profound. He swang a ball on a string and compared it to human existence. He raised the question whether swinging of a ball on a string is a useful activity. Useful for what? Useful for the survival of oneself?
The purpose of life becomes survival at any cost, no enjoyment but bare survival.
Humans know the end game. Everyone does. But we still pretend that if we push hard there could be another outcome. Why did we program ourselves to perform this “play ” instead of learning to enjoy it?
