‘Looper’s’ Time Travel Elements Will Make Your Head Spin
But its story and characters keep it entertaining
This article contains spoilers.
Time travel is a fascinating concept in movies. There are endless possibilities since it is still science fiction (and will remain so). Time travel can be simple, like in Back to the Future, or complex, like in The Butterfly Effect.
Or time travel leaves us scratching our heads, like in Looper. The 2012 sci-fi drama will confuse and leave us with more questions than answers. However, the story of Looper makes up for the sci-fi with a compelling and entertaining narrative.
Rian Johnson directed Looper. He is best known for the series Knives Out and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Looper was Johnson’s breakthrough and thrust him into the spotlight.
In Looper, Johnson has fun using science fiction elements and playing with its tropes and clichés.
