‘Men in Black’ Adds Wit and Action to the Unknowns of Space

The real Men in Black wouldn’t feel as daunting without a Tommy Lee Jones and a Will Smith.

In the mid-1950s, the government set up an agency with one goal: to make contact with beings not from Earth. This agency was the Men in Black. The other organizations mocked the MiB. The aliens, however, did not.

As Earth welcomed extraterrestrial life forms, some landed in 1961. The exchange went well, and the Men in Black became the center for interplanetary aid.

When Tommy Lee Jones’s character, Agent K, explains the history of the Men in Black to Will Smith’s character, Agent J, Smith asks him:

Not to change the subject, but when was your last CAT scan?

Jones said he gets one every six months.

Lines like these show the dynamic and humor of Jones’ and Smith’s Men in Black characters. Their chemistry helped Men in Black (1997) to box office success and years of popularity.

As previously mentioned, Men in Black stars Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith in one of the funniest and most action-packed films about a rumored secret organization. They work well together as Smith’s jokes play well with Jones’ serious demeanor.
