‘Team America: World Police’ Was Made for the ‘South Park’ World but Leaked Into Our Reality

Every time I watch South Park, I know the humor won’t disappoint. That’s what makes it my favorite show. It gets even better when I see an episode with fake movie trailers.

I can’t forget Rob Schneider as the stapler. Such a ridiculous idea has to be real. But one movie trailer has entered our reality: Team America: World Police. This comedy is too wacky and over-the-top — it must be from the South Park universe.

A movie about an American team of martial artists and scientists fighting global terrorism as puppets works well as a joke in South Park. But does it work as a feature-length movie? Yes, it does, and the South Park creators are the best for the job.

South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut pushed Trey Parker and Matt Stone to their limit. The film succeeded, but they didn’t want to repeat the stressful production.

However, they will soon change their minds. On boring days, Parker and Stone watched Thunderbirds. The seriousness of the show was ripe for parody. Parker and Stone knew they had to make a Thunderbirds movie…
