[The #1 Spot] — In a professional world I’d give dap to DJ Khaled for hitting #1 with “I’m The One” the same day that his latest album, Grateful, went #1. But, nah. This song is fairly eeeeeeeehhhhhh, and I don’t really think the album does anything new or excited to warrants anything beyond a shoulder shrug. But, at least some minority of Americans love boastful hot air loudmouths, so let’s em eat cake.

[Reaction Time]—I was looking at a few regional charts, which sorry I’m not doing in full this week — I’m on “vacation.” I noticed that looking at the Top 20 of Gainsville, Florida brought me to this reaction video for Kodak Black’s “Water.” I’ll get into other thoughts about reaction videos another day — it’s complicated — but I was wondering a bit about YouTube’s Content ID and these videos. Like I just assume they are all counted in the Content ID and the artists would take the money off of these videos, but the fact it came up in this context makes me sort of wonder if these reaction videos also count towards the overall views for a song? I should email someone about this, because I know this isn’t that complicated.

[Chart Maintenance] — I’m no a professional chart tracker, even though I guess this blog is presupposing that I am. I was stupid the first few weeks and wasn’t actually tracking this over a seven day period, so starting this week I’ll be going from Thursday to Thursday. I’m sure this will be thrown off some days, but will try and be better about this.
