Shrimp of the Week — Frank B

Tell us a little bit about your background

Frank B is a Miami-based tech consultant who relocated from NYC in mid-2021 after following the growth of the Miami tech scene. After studying electrical & computer engineering and biomedical engineering in undergrad, he has spent his 20+ year career helping companies prevent, detect, investigate, and emerge stronger from financial crimes such as fraud, money laundering, and market abuse, through the use of advanced analytics (AI/ML), digital identity verification, and multi-factor authentication solutions.

Frank is currently a partner at a big four consulting firm helping lead a team of over 200, but has also worked in the financial services industry as an auditor and investigator at an international private bank.

How did you find out about the Shrimp Society?

I found out about and got involved in the Shrimp Society through networking in the Miami tech scene, attending local social events and meetups, following other Miami tech folks and shrimp on Twitter, and then eventually ending up in the Discord, participating in the NFT drop, and attending Shrimp hosted IRL events like the mural reveal, the launch party at the Wharf and the Shrimp house at Miami Hack Week, and am now part of the troupes.

What excites you about the Shrimp Society?

I am most excited about the platform that the shrimp society gives to tech founders, entrepreneurs, builders, and investors to expand their reach, find people to collaborate with, get the help or exposure that they need, and generally support one another week in and week out (“shrimp support shrimp”), which spans both an online community and IRL. This created an environment that led to a top 5 finish at Miami Hack Week for the Spot X project, which was an impressive accomplishment considering the talent level across the competition.

What is your “ask” to the community? How can the Shrimp support you?

I enjoy helping and mentoring others in any way that I can, so my ask for the shrimp is to please reach out for anything where my experience and knowledge might be helpful, for example in the fraud and scam prevention and investigations space. Also, I am very interested in getting more involved in advancing web3 security initiatives, so please reach out if you are aware of any opportunities or needs where I can get involved or mentor and help a project grow.
