We’re excited to add a new section to the Current Weekly where we feature a member of the Shrimp Society community.

Garrett Duncan

Background

We’re kicking Shrimp of the Seek off with an important Shrimp, Garrett Duncan, who as of today is joining the core team as our Community Manager! 🚀

Garrett grew up in Houston, Texas where he was an athlete and ultimately became the President of “The Stampede” — his high school’s spirit club. Garrett would organize the celebrations, ceremonies, and excitement for football games and other sports.

If you’re unaware, high school football is a BIG deal in Texas. After every touchdown, Garrett would run the school flag up and down the field in front of thousands of cheering fans.

If you’ve met Garrett, you know his energy and enthusiasm are contagious. That’s why we had to get him more involved here at the Shrimp Society.

Garrett then headed to New Orleans to attend LSU where he studied marketing. It was his senior year when LSU won the National Championship so you can imagine the celebrations that ensued.

Garrett lives in New Orleans and works as a project manager for a $200m construction company. In his free time, he’s an avid gamer, fitness enthusiast, and NFT degen.

Shrimp Story

Garrett joined the Shrimp Society due to mutual friends at LSU that knew Project Lead Luke Didriksen. Garrett came down to Miami for Art Basel to celebrate the Shrimp Society NFT mint and kickstart his connections in the community.

On joining the Shrimp Society, Garrett said:

“Now I’m friends with so many people that are chasing their dreams and doing what they want to do. The Shrimp Society turn my life around — completely different trajectory that was inspired by the Shrimp. No cap.— Garrett Duncan

Since joining the Shrimp Society, Garrett is actively looking to change career paths and dive into the tech & web3 world. Garrett is learning to code on the nights and weekends while scouring Twitter for the latest web3 alpha.

When asked, “What does the Shrimp Society mean to you?” Garrett replied,

One word — opportunity. No bullsh*t, life changing moves coming out of the Shrimp. You can’t FUD away that. You gotta lean in to experience that.— Garrett Duncan

• NFT Rumors Podcast will join the ShrimpMedia network: NFT Rumors is a popular NFT podcast hosted by Shrimp Society member Alec Zorrilla. In this partnership, the Shrimp Society will be bringing the NFT Rumors podcast on to our media network and hope to grow the show’s following through the support of our community. #ShrimpSupportShrimp 🎙
• Shrimp Sales Bot Setup: We now have a sales bot on Twitter (and soon discord) that shares every time a Shrimp Society NFT is sold. Follow the Shrimp Sales Bot here. 🤖
• Local Chapter Channels — Miami, NYC, NOLA: We opened 3 new channels on Discord for local Shrimp to connect. The first three chapters are Miami, NYC, and NOLA. To start and lead a local chapter in your city, submit 20 Shrimp Society members in that area to admin. Chapter leaders will be provided resources, support, and incentives for their efforts. 🗺
• Partnership with Galactikka Club NFT, decentralized betting platform: They will be giving us 100+ whitelist spots for their NFT drop. Details to follow on how to whitelist. Follow on Twitter. 👽

This Week

• Shrimp Tales Show Tuesday 8pm: Our community talk show, Shrimp Tales, is kicking off this Tuesday at 8pm live on Twitter spaces. Chris Daniels & Garrett Duncan will be discussing the inside stories, banter, and announcements from the Shrimp Society community. Shrimp Tales episodes will be recorded and added to the ShrimpMedia podcast network for members to enjoy any time. 🎙

• Alpha Night on Wednesday: Blockhead, badfrank.sol, and Jumbo Shrimp will provide some unique insights and alpha for the community on algo crypto trading with CrypoHopper, NFT/Defi staking, and Terra Luna. Alpha Night will be held in the Reef Lounge on Discord at 8pm Wednesday night.💰
• Token gating discord: We’ve changed from Grape to a new (and much better) authentication service called Matrica. We will be implementing token gating for members in the discord this week. 🔒
• Sunday Dinner with DeFi LEGEND, Blake Meyerson: Do not miss this — period. Blake is the smartest investor I’ve ever met and he’ll be joining the Sunday Dinner to talk all things DeFi. He was starting a DeFi hedge fund before getting scooped up by a multi-billion family office to lead their DeFi investing.. don’t miss this alpha. Sunday Night. 8pm. Discord. 📈
