Shyft is thrilled to have been nominated for the category: Greatest Social Impact

This week, we were honored to be a title sponsor of the 2019 KNOW Identity Conference in Las Vegas, specifically supporting the Digital Identity track.

We had an excellent time at KNOW, and wanted to specifically highlight a few things we think the organizers did a great job with.

Panel curation and organization

KNOW did such a great job of picking topics and speakers that spoke to relevant, engaging subject matter that some attendees were actually asking for panels to not break for lunch, which is basically unheard of in our experience. Our own Michelle Beyo was on hand to take part in a panel about emerging technology’s ability to combat “fake news.”

Fostering conversations

So much of the conference was designed to get people talking to one another that might not otherwise get to, from the just-for-panelists cocktail hour (sponsored by National Student Clearinghouse) to the positioning of company booths near the breakout rooms, to the intimate and approachable fireside chats, KNOW did a great job of making it easy to meet people according to industries and topics of interest.

Spirit of inclusion

At Shyft, we take a particular interest in the matter of women in tech (and blockchain in particular), so we’re always keen to see how events handle tackling these issues. KNOW had a great fireside chat with identity expert Bianca Lopes, co-founder of Talle, on Women in Identity that was open to all attendees, and actually featured some good participation from male attendees, which is definitely a welcome development, since gender-based discrimination affects all of us.

Lastly, we have to give an extra special shout-out to Trevor Jarae, CEO of One World Identity (OWI), the organization who put together this conference. Not only did he and his team do a great job or organizing, and they were also personally on-hand throughout the event to answer questions attendees had!

We had a great time at KNOW and look forward to meeting up with Trevor and the OWI team at future events in Toronto and elsewhere.
