Blockchance 2018 — Take Away and a lot more!!
The Blockchain ecosystem in Hamburg has observed a steady growth over the past few years with various events and conference happening across the city. Hamburg has already hosted some of the most reputed events in the Blockchain field like Unchain , Innovationsforum Blockchain, Distribute and Moinblockchain. The most recent one being Blockchance 2018, which witnessed a huge interest from students, startup representatives, investors, politicians and blockchain enthusiasts. More than 40 organizations have participated in the first edition of Blockchance at the Hafencity Hamburg that took place on 24th and 25th of August, 2018.
According to Arnab Naskar, the Co-Founder of SICOS and STOKR and one of the speakers at the Blockchance event: “the event attracted strong discussion on the current cryptocurrency market and the downfall that it has observed in the last few months. The discussion also circled around the sustainability of the utility token model for various blockchain based projects”.
The already existing concerns regarding the uncertainty of utility tokens gave room to various questions post the presentation made for STOKR. STOKR is creating a crowd investing platform built on Ethereum blockchain to create independent access to new markets. Everyday investors can directly fund innovative start-ups and SMEs in return for a share of the venture’s future profit through EU-complaint security token offerings.
There were various other innovative blockchain based projects that participated in the conference under different sub-categories such as mobility, gaming, solar energy, trading to name a few. Under the gaming sub-category, people were appreciative of GoForIt that combines mobile couponing, geo tracking and Claim and Manage Your Copyright which is a student initiated project and uses blockchain to customize copyright for individuals based on their need.
The major takeaway from this conference was the vision that it projected with regards to the growing blockchain ecosystem and its recognition not just in Hamburg or Germany but around the globe. As the participants came from US, China, Ukraine, Israel, India, Georgia, Netherlands to name a few and not just from Germany or Europe, it indicated that the blockchain community in Hamburg is increasing and growing stronger. SICOS and STOKR has a strong connection with Hamburg and we are hopeful that the blockchain ecosystem in Hamburg will gain momentum in coming months.
