How I Gained 75,000+ LinkedIn Followers in One Year

I get 2 million views every month on LinkedIn.

I started writing there during my 9–5, but back then I only shared light inspirational stuff or links to my articles.

Because I was playing it safe, duh.

From there till now, after becoming LinkedIn Top Voice in only a year of writing on the platform, here are the top eight tips for you.

Firstly, Here’s What I *Didn’t* Do

  • bought likes/ followers
  • join an engagement pod
  • Chat GPT/ Chrome extension carousels
  • “90% people are doing XYZ wrong” carousel
  • “These TED talks will change your life” posts

I know these posts get in thousands of likes. But I don’t want to go viral or get a tonne of followers.

By now, I know followers don’t equate to opportunities or conversions. It's an empty vanity metric. I chase building an audience that’s genuine instead of a number.

Now, let's get started.

1/ Don’t Show Up Too Often

I’m not saying consistency isn’t important. Being consistent is the only way to:

  • grow
  • get better at writing

But there’s one thing people miss — make your audience excited to hear from you.

Posting too often makes you predictable. Don’t do that. People resonate with humans, not robots. Even LinkedIn told us during the Creator Accelerator Program that 3x a week is good enough.

2/ Tell Your Story

“I don’t know what to write about.”

“Somebody else has written about it.”

“How can I be different?”

Answer: Tell YOUR story. Use your life experiences as much as you can.
