🚂 The train to Manningtree

The team met at 9:30 at Liverpool Street. We grabbed breakfast and branded ourselves with our new SIDE stamps (the only suitable way to test them).

🥾 The walk: The Boathouse — Constable Walk Loop from Manningtree

When we got off the train at Manningtree we were welcomed by our newest team member, Niki. It looks like she joined at just the right time.

Since this hike had been planned by Shivy, we all followed her lead and occasionally checked the route.

🍻 Lunch at (and in) the Sun

Half-way in, we headed straight to Dedham for a well-deserved sunny pub lunch. An order of mussels, burgers, risotto, cod and a cheeky Pimms did the trick.

We struggled to rally ourselves as the food coma kicked in. The prospect of fresh ice cream at Flatford sparked us into life.

🔋 The pit stop

We were at Flatford on the search for ice creams, but unfortunately there had been an incident… the ice cream kiosk had been burned down the night before (it even made the news). To make matters worse, the cafe had just closed. It seemed ice cream was not meant to be. Nonetheless we laid flat and on our SIDE, some of us climbing trees and some of us getting up close and personal with the local ducks.

🗓 For our next Hike

As we parted ways with Niki (she’s from Norwich) and got on our train to London, we drew straws to see who would organise our next hike. It was Lizzie — we can’t wait to see where we explore next! ☀️
