The show has been off the air since 2013, but the time has come to settle the debate. Which character from The Office reigns supreme?

Our selection process was highly scientific, based on accumulated data scratched out on the back of a scrap of notebook paper. We selected the top 32 characters from the show’s run, from episode-to-episode stalwarts and some of the celebrity cameos the show began to rely on in later years.

Every Wednesday in March, we will be announcing the characters who survived and advanced through the bracket. The winner will be revealed on April 5. And then who knows. Maybe we’ll tweet at the actor or something.

Some ground rules: this is as subjective as it gets. We are looking for the best. Obviously, there will be some matchups with a Halpert or Shrute against a Packer or a California. The question you need to ask yourself is simple: who is the better television character?
