We’ve all been haunted and hurt by NFT projects. Rug pulls from hell. Art reveals that would make Frankenstein look like Cinderella. Dev teams that require a call from the Ghostbusters.
Our “Hidden” folders in OpenSea are collectively littered with the corpses of failed projects, rug pulls, overly ambitious ideas that lost the will to live, and bad memories that fuel our nightmares and Discord DM conversations.
These mistakes aren’t just lessons; they’re badges of honor. They say “I was here during the great NFT boom of 2021” through the best and the worst of it, and lived to tell the tale.
So gather around the campfire for a new kind of ghost story. Because for one day a year, on Halloween, the dead will rise. Reanimated and remixed, these NFTs are back to be honored and celebrated, for the lives they lived that ended too soon and the agony they delivered that brought us together.
Welcome to the Night of the Living Dead NFT
Night of the Living Dead NFT is a derivative art project inspired by Halloween and the concept of an “NFT graveyard.”
The art collection features new interpretations of 10 existing NFT collections, with scary, referential, comic-style illustrations and animations.
Each Night of the Living Dead NFT is an original piece of derivative art from acclaimed Australian artist and illustrator Gabriel Cunnett, also known by the “GabboGabboGabbo” and GABBO³ moniker. For each “dead” project, a custom 1/1 piece was designed for a collector in the NFT community who still owns the project to this very day, and /31 animated derivatives were designed for the community to collect.
This is an art project, plain and simple. Damn good art, but we’re biased. There is no utility and the roadmap is pretty simple:
- The first 50% of sales go directly to the artist.
- The next 25% of sales will be donated to STOMP Out Bullying, the leading national nonprofit dedicated to changing the culture for all students by reducing and preventing bullying, cyberbullying, and other digital abuse. To me, it’s the perfect charity to focus on as kids deal with the nastier side of Halloween culture.
- The final 25% goes to me, and I intend on raffling away 0.25 ETH to 4 collectors (1 ETH total) upon a 100% sellout of the project. That will take place in the project’s Discord, which is currently a channel within my “Loot for Ballers” Discord Channel (join here).
There are 10 projects featured: Meta Bots, PixPuppies, Ether Sparks, ApyMon Genesis Eggs, Super Yeti, Misfit University, Arabian Camels, Rabbit College Club, Panda Golf Squad, and Pirate Treasure Booty Club.
Each is minted with /31 editions.
Each edition costs 0.05 ETH and comes with:
- An animated GIF (the main NFT)
- A JPEG “Comic Book” Cover (in the “unlockables” section)
- A JPEG “Poster” (in the “unlockables” section)
- A JPEG Profile Picture (in the “unlockables” section)
- The JPEG Comic and Poster files are large enough that you can print them if you want.

Project Origins
The idea for this project was born in July. On August 18, 2021, I began collaborating on what became Night of the Living Dead NFT with “ThisOtterBeGood,” a fellow NFT collector that is a member of BAYC and a friend from the All-Star Freaks Discord.
He is the brains and business operations side of this project. GABBO³ is a veteran illustrator & artist, frequent mural painter, occasional pattern designer, and former graphic designer. This is his first NFT project, and he is launching his own NFT art collection in November.
