SideQuest has been a staple in VR since 2019 (if we do say so ourselves) because we fulfill two vital roles within the community:

We help VR enthusiasts get their hands on the apps, games, and indie hidden gems they’d otherwise miss
We help the developers making those apps and games test their ideas, build a fanbase, and get the attention they deserve

But — shocker! — we’re not perfect!

In the past, getting SideQuest hasn’t always been as easy as we’d like it to be. But the easier we make it, the more connected we can make the VR community! So, we’re constantly testing new ideas and new ways to make SideQuest better.

Now, we’re ready with our next massive update:

The SideQuest Web Installer

Replacing the Easy Installer is our brand new Web Installer — by far the easiest way to get SideQuest on your Quest 3 headset (or Quest 2 headset) and our most recommended way to experience SideQuest, period.

Taking advantage of Web USB and running 100% within your web browser, you only need to have three things to get the Web Installer started:

A SideQuest account,
A USB connection cable, and
Debug Mode enabled on your headset.

That’s it. No extra downloads. No need to install any software on your computer or mobile device. Just SideQuest installed straight to your headset from your web browser in a few quick clicks.

Works with any Chromium browser (like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Samsung Internet)
No additional software or installs required — just one click to get the full SQ package!

Once you have SideQuest in your headset, you’ll have instant access to almost the entire collection of apps and games in the SideQuest catalog — even sideload-only titles! The only games you won’t be able to instantly download and play are the very few that require extra installations and updates from other third-party sites. Everything is good to go!

What’s more, we’ve added improved functionality for the in-headset app to boot, helping you get the most out of your Quest headset!

Access advanced Quest headset settings in the SideQuest app

Previously only available if you installed our desktop or Android app, we’ve now included the ability to tweak your Quest’s advanced settings within our headset app.

That means more of our users can get the very most out of their headset by unlocking its hidden superpowers — changing settings on the fly with no pesky cables or external devices involved.

How to get SideQuest on your headset using the Web Installer

We weren’t kidding when we said this is the easiest way to get SideQuest on your headset that we’ve ever made. In fact, you just need four things to get started:

Debug Mode enabled on your headset
A USB cable to connect your headset to your device
A Chromium browser (Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge are ideal)
A SideQuest account! Make one here if you haven’t got one

Once you have those sorted, you can get SideQuest in just 3 simple steps:

Connect your headset to your device using the USB cable
Go to ‘Get SideQuest’, select the Web Installer, and follow the quick steps
Wait for your installation to complete!

Once completed, you’ll be able to find the SideQuest app on your Quest headset filed under ‘Unknown Sources’. To find this folder, go to your headset app library, head to the top bar, and select filters — you’ll see the ‘Unknown Sources’ option listed near the bottom.

Then, just open up SideQuest and start playing!
