How does this work?
For English storefronts, Siggy generates product recommendations using both image and text data. It only uses product images for non-English storefronts.
Comparing the recommendations
Let’s take the example of the product below:
Recommendation using all product data (text + image)
The recommendation above focused on wording such as “diamond” to present different types of products (bracelets, bands)
Recommendation with product image only
Image-only recommendations focused on finding similarly shaped products (rings) while ignoring the material (i.e. diamond) and purpose (.e.g engagement ring).
So……
Generally speaking, recommendations generated from all product data can take in more contextual information, while image-only recommendations emphasize shape, colors. Both algorithms can generate meaningful recommendations.
