On Tuesday, September 25, Siglo launched a beta of the Siglo Wallet to more than 50 Pig.gi users who are tasked to find bugs or errors of Siglo Wallet that will be available to the public later this month.

One of the main objectives of the Siglo wallet is usability in our markets. We want it to be easy for anyone to make transactions and send tokens among their friends — regardless of their tech experience or blockchain education. Considering our objective of financial inclusion, most of our beta users are in Mexico and Colombia, and less than 50% have a bank accountant.

An example of our approach is authentication. Access to the wallet is through a QR code and an email, which is easier for first-time users than managing public and private keys. After all, even experienced blockchain users know the dangers of losing a key and being locked out of their wallets! (Of course, Siglo users will be able to use public and private key on any ERC-20 wallet.)

For the launch of the beta program, we invited Pig.gi users who had the following experience:

  • > 6 months in Pig.gi
  • Speak English
  • Good spelling
  • Good writing

More than 600 people signed up for the program, demonstrating their skills and requirements in the application. The duration of the initial program is two weeks. They’re analyzing and testing the wallet and report to the Siglo team what bugs they found, and they receive bounties for bugs. You can see their progress here.

The beta testers have been very active on Twitter! Check out some of their tweets and memes.
