OKRs require pristine conditions to succeed
The common ignorance regarding the finickyness of OKRs
Introducing OKRs without a clear vision or strategy is like buying a boat ⛵ when you are stuck in the desert 🌵.
Companies want to hop on the OKR boat together with all other cool companies and start-ups. Ticking the "We're awesome, please join us"-boxes ✅, like the Spotify model in the past that has since been debunked as not being that great 💩 (link in comments).
Doing OKRs without a clear vision or strategy is like those bodybuilders on TikTok who inject oil in their arms to create the illusion of being buff - it only serves to make you look like a fool.
When HR starts talking about OKRs without involving someone who is an expert on OKRs and aware of the pristine conditions you need to make them work, you should be extremely worried.
OKRs are like Scrum: simple to understand, but difficult to get right. I've seen them fail many times.
If you wanna do OKRs, read up, and please involve an expert with scars of experience who can tell you how to make them work instead of winging it and inevitably slowing you down.
