Chances are that most people could tell you the car that their Mum or Dad drove them around in. In my case, my Dad had a red Mk3 Ford Escort with a metallic green rear door on one side. This looked absolutely rubbish but meant that we could always find it in the car park...

These images are linked in an understandable way — perhaps from the same project, series or dealing with related subjects. They may be linked by aesthetics, techniques, processes, philosophies, formal or conceptual elements. Deep in the Wood — Trees as Art
There’s a difference between making art out of a tree and making art with a tree. Wood has been used as a material in art since prehistoric times. It’s commonly used as a sculptural material and of course, is the basis for most paper, which is about the most common art material, very often used in conjunction with a wooden pencil, or charcoal! Mother of the American Modern
Georgia O’Keeffe once admitted, “I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life — and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.” It’s a quote often repeated and it seems she applied the credo to all aspects of her long creative life, not least her art. This bravery led her to a new approach to colour and form which started with her famous flower paintings. These vivid, close-up portraits of blooms such as poppies and cannas are among the most well-known of O’Keeffe’s paintings. Many are still reproduced as popular prints or greetings cards, many are also sequestered in private collections…
Mad as Munch!
Edvard Munch is one of the earliest, and most influential, of the pioneering Expressionist painters. He’s widely known for his recurring themes of alienation, anxiety, grief, and despair. Munch had a traumatic childhood during which many of his friends and family died and this deeply affected his outlook. Although his paintings are often sombre and disturbing, the overall message proclaimed by his oeuvre is ultimately a positive one.
