Manas.Tech founder Nicolás di Tada joins Sikoba’s Strategic Advisory Board
--
We are pleased to announce that Manas.Tech founder Nicolás di Tada is joining our Strategic Advisory Board.
Background
As much in life, this is the result of fortuitous coincidences. It all started when the sikoba team stumbled upon the Crystal programming language in late 2017. We had done some early prototyping in Ruby, but knew that we would need something faster. Crystal’s slogan “fast as C, slick as Ruby” immediately struck a chord, and sikoba became a (small) sponsor of Crystal in late December 2017.
Because of this, we became aware of Manas.Tech, the company where Crystal was born and ended up talking to its founder, Nicolás di Tada. We were surprised to learn that Nico had a deep interest in monetary theory and alternative financial systems. He immediately understood and enthusiastically embraced the sikoba project. This eventually resulted in the technology partnership between sikoba and Manas.Tech that is bringing the sikoba vision to life.
Whilst setting up this partnership, we have had time to understand more about Nico’s belief in the ability of technology to act as shaping force in human systems, and his unique set of skills, intellect and experience.
About Nicolás di Tada
Since 1995, Nico has worked around technology and innovation, with organisations ranging from startups to large multinationals and UN Agencies, helping them understand their challenges and opportunities and designing systems through a participatory and agile process. He has extensive experience applying human-centred design and systems thinking to complex problems in all sorts of domains including scientific applications, humanitarian and development scenarios.
After working for several startups and Fortune 500 companies, he founded Manas.Tech who specialise in building unconventional software for unconventional needs with a focus on technical and scientific software solutions. Manas.Tech is committed to the development of innovative and creative high-end business systems and has delivered over 150 projects to companies that truly make a difference in the world.
Its multi-disciplinary team includes artists, graphic designers, front-end developers and software architects. Developers at Manas.Tech have experience using state-of-the-art technology stacks and are proficient in a full spectrum of languages: Ruby, Python, C++, C#, Java, Erlang and Clojure.
Nico also currently serves as the Director of Engineering at InSTEDD (Innovative Support To Emergencies Diseases and Disasters) where he works with humanitarian and development organisations around the world to apply systems design and technology to tackle social issues around public health, safety and agriculture. Having implemented projects in the harshest conditions–including deploying to Haiti 36 hours after the 2010 earthquake–he understands how to design software for resource-constrained scenarios.
Nico buys books faster than what he can read them, plays the piano like a perpetual amateur and when not working, can be found getting lost in the most remote wilderness he can find.
Given his deep experience and network of contacts all over the world, we are certain that Nico will be able to provide invaluable advice to the sikoba team in the months and years ahead.
