Chalo and Silence Laboratories Forge an Innovative Partnership to Revolutionise Offline Ticket Authentication

Silence Laboratories, a leader in decentralized security and cyber-proof technology solutions is excited to announce its partnership with Chalo, India’s premier public transportation technology platform.
The goal is to offer a fast and reliable offline solution for the verification of bus tickets booked through Chalo’s mobile app using advanced authentication libraries, making the boarding experience of public transportation users contactless, fast, and more efficient.
The verification of the ticket happens, using Silence Laboratories’s SDK- SilentAuth, through two-way communication between the passenger’s phone and the POS terminal held by the conductor/installed in the bus using radio frequency. All of this happens within 1 second leading to a seamless and secure offline solution for passengers and bus operators.
It creates an NFC-like experience and works across NFC and non-NFC devices.
The technology ‘Silent Auth’ is predicted to be the successor of QR code and OTP-based methods that are:
1. Slow (QR code-based verifications took 7 seconds on average due to human errors, variability in light conditions, etc) and
2. Increasingly vulnerable to scams.
With the rise of sophisticated hacking techniques, traditional authentication methods are becoming less secure, leaving businesses and individuals at risk of data breaches and cyber threats. Chalo has launched the first phase of deployments for any commonly available smartphone, to tap on the conductor’s POS terminal and validate a ticket bought on the app — simply tap and board!
