An original design from the Nintendo 64 era

All the gaming sites are publishing articles about their most anticipated games of 2017, so in an attempt to appear relevant, Silent Protagonist is doing exactly the same thing — there’s no point in being trend setters if readers aren’t aware of the trends, after all. And continuing the trend to chase double the page views, double the reads and double the recommendations, this list is merely part one, with part two to be published tomorrow.

As the authority on all things gaming, our list includes all the upcoming games that we are looking forward to, and you should too. If there’s a game that you’re looking forward to and it happens to be missing from the list, it is a deliberate exclusion, not an oversight. So, please don’t blame us; blame the developers for building a shit game that is going to suck so much that we’re not including it in the list.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Xbox One, PS4, PSVR, PC

Glamour photography at its finest

Remember Resident Evil 6? The game that dropped horror for some approximation of action? Resident Evil 7 promises to go back to basics, dropping action in favour of some approximation of horror. Expect the game to replicate the original Resident Evil feel, complete with terrible enemy AI, outdated controls, and a camera that barely works…which is going to be perfect for PSVR.

For Honor

PS4, Xbox One, PC

"I don't have time for this shit. I have assassins to hunt!"

For Honor offers the wonders of 4v4 combat featuring the historically accurate Knight / Samurai / Viking war of the early second century. We are awaiting confirmation from Ubisoft that the game is going to receive the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ title, as you jump into the animus to launch into battle and learn the deep dark secrets of the world thanks to alien space gods.

Halo Wars 2

Xbox One, PC

Probably a better story than Halo 5

Play anywhere! On your Xbox! On your PC! Anywhere! The red headed stepchild of the Halo franchise is back with a sequel. Just like the original, Halo Wars 2 promises to abandon everything that makes the Halo series great, and offer a slow-paced real time strategy game. Woot!

Horizon Zero Dawn

PS4

Full of possessed robo-dino goodness

Another day, another RPG. However, Horizon Zero Dawn offers something that your Andromedas and Fractured But Wholes don’t. Dinosaurs. Robotic dinosaurs. Robotic dinosaurs attacking people. Possessed robotic dinosaurs attacking people. Ladies and gentlemen, gaming doesn’t get any better than this.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Xbox One, PS4, PC

"Are you sure we're in a Ubisoft game? I don't see a tower anywhere."

Because Tom Clancy’s The Division worked so well with its level balance issues, Ubisoft is back with another multiplayer Tom Clancy game that is going to do its very best to ensure that you can’t actually play with your friends.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Xbox One, PS4, PC

"Hey baby, want to come back to my ship and complete a romance quest?"

Aliens. Space aliens. Sex. Space sex. Space sex with space aliens. With two more games to go until Bioware wraps up its second trilogy and the world shares a certain rage at the ending, let’s just focus on the important things.

Yooka-Laylee

Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, PC

I Can't Believe it's Not Banjo-Kazooie

In a beautiful demonstration of Nintendo’s faith in the Switch, Yooka-Laylee is coming to the Wii U. A bright, colourful platform in the vain of Banjo-Kazooie by some of the greatest minds behind Banjo-Kazooie, Yooka-Laylee is a wonderful argument against originality.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Xbox One, PS4, PC

Injustice 2's downloadable characters revealed

The Fractured But Whole is a superheroic game of superheroic proportions chock full of superheroes. Why? Because superheroes sell, and Ubisoft likes to sell things. Expect farts to return, but in a superheroic fashion.

Persona 5

PS4, PS3

Full of teen angsty goodness

A decade in the making, Persona 5 is yet another RPG. Focusing on teenage ghost fighters yet again, Persona 5 also focus on cat burgling. While Silent Protagonist does not endorse the burgling of cats, we do endorse games that miss their release window by roughly a decade.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Switch, Wii U

PETA will be issuing a statement about Link's treatment of the wolf

Finally, a Nintendo Switch game makes the list! But never fear, you can also play this on the Wii U. Nintendo are promising that the game will be close to the spirit of the original NES The Legend of Zelda, which is code for compared to modern consoles, Breath of the Wild will look like an original NES game.

God of War

PS4

If the Barron Trump fiasco has taught us anything, it's not to make smart arse remarks about kids

Kratos and Kratos Jr take on the Norse gods. With Kratos Jr’s lightning powers, it is soon revealed that he is actually the son of Odin, resulting in the once peaceful Kratos killing gods in his hunt for Odin, seeking revenge for hooking up with his girl.

Join us tomorrow at the same Bat-time on the same Bat-channel as we reveal the remaining games that you must look forward to.
