Bitter Tears of a Wasted Life
DESCRIPTION
“This Loot Cave will be the death of me.”
Found scrawled on the wall of a cave in Russia.

The Bitter Tears of a Wasted Life are only available to truly powerful Guardians, who have proven themselves again and again on the same battlefields. Once a Guardian has slain their thousandth Vex, or sniped yet another Cabal patrol, once they have journeyed back and forth across the moon, the Earth resplendent overhead, but with their eyes focused on the ground in a hunt for helium, then the Guardian has a very specific moment of introspection.

It is unknown how influential the Traveler is on this point of reflection, or if it is merely a human reaction to so much pointless death and resurrection. Ultimately most Guardians move beyond the melancholy that blossoms in their souls, finding distraction in a new quest line that sends them racing off to open more chests, or in the idea that another recently discovered faction, that are ultimately revealed to be Hive, but Hive with mustaches and wearing new hats, will present an unique challenge. These Guardians never quite defeat their jadedness, but instead manage to bury it under a mountain of purposeful delusion.

Then there are the Guardians who cannot travel beyond their introspection. The realisation that the entirety of their lives has been spent in a pointless search for space metal and gems, and that their future holds only the same, forever more, breaks them. That is when the Bitter Tears of a Wasted Life run down their faces.
