As Microsoft always says, it is size that matters

Sony’s PlayStation consoles have a storied history of trying to copy theit Xbox counterparts. Whether it’s the PlayStation Network trying desperately to be Xbox Live, the PS4 Pro getting rushed out to market before Project Scorpio, and let us never forget that fateful day, 13 June 2013, when the PS4 reveal stole Xbox One’s thunder, once and for all.

However, Sony has just made the most shameless move in the history of shameless moves. A move that yells to the world “We have no original ideas!” A move that demonstrates that while the original PlayStation was released before the original Xbox, Sony always has been and always will be reliant on Microsoft for its ideas.

Back in January, Silent Protagonist reported on the gigantic Xbox One I controller. A controller so huge and evidently so successful, you cannot find it in stores. Never ones to shy away from another company’s brilliance in an attempt to pass it off as their own, Sony has now followed suit.

What's the point of a giant controller if you can reach all the buttons?

The DualShock 4G is a giant DualShock 4 controller that, despite its moniker, does not feature 4G functionality. Regardless of whether it’s 4G or 4K, the PS4 continues to demonstrate that Sony doesn’t like offering full functionality for anything that contains the number 4.

Further, the DualShock 4G fails to emulate the Xbox One I’s inflatability, much like the PlayStation Move failed to emulate the Kinect’s controller-free movement. This sacrifice has resulted in a controller that costs Sony more to produce, while lacking the lightweight portability the Xbox One I is renowned for.

Hard plastic makes for less comfort in your swimming pool

At approximately one metre in length, the DualShock 4G is about half the size of the Xbox One I, ensuring that instead of having the biggest controller on the market, the PS4 simply has the heaviest. The DualShock 4G also lacks beverage holders, because let’s face it — PlayStation has never been the console of choice for hardcore gamers who definitely aren’t buying an expensive games console so they can watch TV on it instead of on their TV.

If, for some insane reason, you want to own a subpar controller, you can see it in action below. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you.
