An Open Letter to Our Tribe
A year ago, 74 friends, colleagues, and classmates came together to launch Silicon Beach Investment Group. We set out to democratize investing, prove that investors can truly be an active resource, and build a community to further those ideals. In the height of uncertainty, we built the operations of a Venture Capital fund from scratch. No small feat.
Since then, we’ve made waves in the SoCal startup scene. Some numbers:
- Bootstrapped a half-million-dollar fund
- Sourced more than 400 opportunities
- 15% of those were inbound interest and
- 85% were sourced from incubators, accelerators, our network and VC partners
- Trained a quarter of our members in diligence best practices
- Partnered with dozens of the top shops
- Held over a 100 of meetings with Founders
- Voted on 5 attractive projects
- Made 2 fantastic investments
But that’s just the start.
There is still work to be done and capital to deploy. We believe we can make those early dollars count for more. More support, more community, more success. That means more legendary guest speakers, more support for Founders (no-strings attached), and more community for our members.
We are so excited about what we have in store.
