A city and valley of ex-pats

Over wine and fries after a very long work week, a couple of friends and I recounted stories of what brought us to Silicon Valley. We certainly weren’t from around here; we didn’t grow up aspiring to work in technology and its environs — two of us hailed from the endless suburb, Los Angeles, another from the red deserts of Arizona.

We became curious about what brought others here, and how. Sure, there was the lure of startup life, but surely there were other reasons: family? A job? A girlfriend?

Share your story on what brought you to this mysterious peninsula, where seeing a Tesla on your way to work, being Facebook friends with Sean Parker and seeing the hottest band at a startup party is the norm.

This collection is open — feel free to share or encourage others to share.
