Ready to see the future? Ready to try the future?

While folks are scouring the web for 80’s references in the new Ready Player One trailer you can get your first AR VR device for $149. ARkit by Apple does AR & VR, and it features single camera position tracking.

If you haven’t seen the new trailer for Ready Player One, a film directed by Steven Spielberg, based on the story by Earnest Cline you can watch it at youtube via this link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiK2fhOY0nE

If you would like a break down of the trailer that highlights all the 80’s pop culture references that people have spotted so far.

I warmly recommend that you listen to the Audiobook of Ready Player One as it is read by Wil Wheaton and that is definitely the optimal way to experience the story, or at least it was before Steven Spielberg’s movie.

So how much is it going to cost to get your first AR/VR device? The answer is $149, but that doesn’t include the headset portion yet.

Today Bestbuy is selling an iphone SE that usually costs $399 for $149, given that it can run ARkit which rivals Hololens which costs $3,000 dollars this is a bit of a steal. ARkit also rivals Google Tango! If you need an extra phone, for whatever reason, whether it’s for battery life, emergencies, or whatever important reason you might need to get an extra phone. It does not require a cellular subscription which means you can use it like an ipad, with only wifi. here is the link

Special note: ARkit is currently in the developer version of IOS, so if you are comfortable playing with a version of IOS that is still available go ahead and download it. Be warned however that beta software can have bugs, and you should probably not download beta software on a primary device. One example of buggy beta software is that my friend lost the ability to connect to wifi hotspots after downloading the ARkit beta version of iOS.

Come join the ARkit group on Facebook

Ready Player One is a great vision of the future internet, one in which we are all able to interact with each other in Virtual Reality that mixes with the real world.

Special thanks to Steve Lukas for the tip about the ARkit sale! Steve created a cool slack group for ARkit creators check it out
