Legislative Team Training

2017 is going to be one of the most exciting and critical years in state history for climate legislation!

California is leading the way for the rest of the country. Silicon Valley area legislators will play a key role in the coming months, and with our new allies in the CA State Assembly and Senate, there is much we can accomplish. The Republicans want to see us fail, but we need to demonstrate that you can have an economy that is both strong AND green. The earlier passage of AB 32, the California Global Warming Solutions Act, provides the tools for a sharp reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Now, it is up to each of us to make it happen!

We are going to jump start our new team with a training led by 2 wonderful and experienced East Bay activists who have been working hard on CA and local legislative issues for a number of years, Judy Pope and Kathy Dervin. The training is tentatively set for Saturday, March 18th, 9:30–1:30, location TBA. Please RSVP on this page to receive updates on this training.

Judy has suggested we do a bit of homework before the training. If you have a block of about 45 minutes free, grab a cup of coffee or tea and watch this video of a recent 350 Bay Area educational workshop on Cap and Trade held in the East Bay back on Dec. 3rd. The final segment on Exploring Legislative Alternatives in Today’s California will be especially helpful to members of our newly formed Legislative Committee, and you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/RCL9E5k9G28?t=9s

In this video, climate lobbyist Dan Jacobson lays out the political landscape for climate legislation. Jacobson got rave reviews from attendees — watch it and be inspired!

We’re so excited to get to know you all and get to work!
