The Creators Fund — $20K to $50K to support creative practitioners across all disciplines to undertake creative development, research or experimentation, residences etc. Closes 7 September 2017.

Nokia Innovation Challenge — for ideas, technologies, and new business models in IoT. Focus includes transportation, smart cities, safety and security, connected industries, and/or a smart, safe and sustainable world. Closes 20 September 2017.

Advance Queensland Small Business Research Program — funding available to develop and test innovations that address specific challenges.
 • Feasibility — share of $250K
 • Proof of original concept — share of $500K.

Bendigo Inventors’ Awards 2017 — various categories relating to emergency services and disaster management. Closes 29 September 2017.

AusBiotech & Johnson & Johnson 2017 Industry Excellence Awards
Three categories:
 • Industry Leadership Award

On Accelerator — full-time sci-tech accelerator program that brings together researchers, entrepreneurs and inspiring mentors. Closes 13 October 2017.

Jet Set Flying Start — $15K cash plus $15K travel for projects that enrich the lives of people in the local community. Closes 30 September 2017.

Start-up Open Global Competition — For innovative new businesses that are yet to raise outside capital. Closes 30 September 2017.

Myer Innovation Fellowships — $100K plus $30K travel/expenses to develop new ideas that address education, poverty & disadvantage, and/or sustainability & the environment. Closes 8 October 2017.

2018 Science & Innovation Awards for Young People in Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry. Grants to $22K for big ideas from 18–35 year olds that will benefit Australia’s primary industries. Various categories. Closes 13 October 2017.

Clunies Ross Awards — for the application of technology that benefits Australia. Three categories: Entrepreneur of the Year, Knowledge Commercialisation & Innovation. Closes 27 October 2017.

Digital Yacht’s Code a Float Challenge — $3.5K in prizes. A global competition for innovative code writers for game-changing ideas in marine navigation, communication, safety, control or entertainment. Closes 31 October 2017.

South Australian Early Commercialisation Fund — to $500K to commercialise new products and services. Also available for businesses seeking to relocate to SA. Ongoing.
 • Phase 1 — to $50K for proof of concept
 • Phase 2 — to $150K for product development
 • Phase 3 — to $300K for early commercialisation

The Latrobe Valley Economic Facilitation Fund of up to $10m is offered to support business growth and new job creation as the Gippsland region shifts out of coal production. Ongoing.

Minimum Viability Product NSW — To $25K for NSW tech SMEs to create B2B solutions. Ongoing.

Entrepreneurs Programme — Three streams. Ongoing. 
 • Accelerating Commercialisation Grant — to $1 million for eligible projects.
 • Business management — to $20K to implement business capability improvements.
 • Innovation connections — to $50K for implementation of a business innovation project

Qld Business Development Fund — $125K to $2.5m for co-investment funding in companies with high growth / innovations in emerging industries. Must be Queensland-based. Ongoing.

Defence Industry & Innovation Programs:
 • Defence Innovation Portal — ideas that comply with the Departments priority innovation needs.
 • Next Generation Technologies Fund for R&D projects in future technologies.

ARENA — funding for renewable energy projects that align with key priority areas. Includes R&D, Advancing renewables, Renewable Energy VC Fund, and the Clean Energy Innovation Fund.

Export Market Development Grants — reimburses up to 50% of eligible export promotion expenses over $5K if total expenses are at least $15K. Up to eight grants per eligible applicant. Ongoing.
