My Two Cents

There are some expressions that are universal or nearly-universal; they are identical or very similar across languages and cultures all over the world. The phrase “That’s Greek to me” is one such expression.

In his 1979 article in the language journal Lingvisticæ Investigationes, Arnold L. Rosenberg explained how he and his IBM Research Center team tried to “set out on a quest for the hardest natural languages”. Their conclusion was summed up thusly:
