This week in SimPEG…

Dom Fournier has been working on 2 new mapping classes to enable us to decompose the model domain into a background described by a geologic model and a portion that allows local heterogeneity to be introduced. He has demonstrated proof of concept for the simultaneous inversion of parametric and voxel models. A pull request has been created for the HomogeneousMap and SumMap.

I gave a talk at the Reflex TechCon on “The role of open source in the future of geoscience education.” We showed GeoSci, the apps, reproducible figures, case histories, and demo’d the DC layer + cylinder app and generated a bit of excitement!

Rowan Cockett has been working on his personal site: https://row1.ca/, which has some SimPEG content. We look forward to seeing some of his web development learnings later on in an upgrade of the SimPEG site!
