The Road Life

On the road again – Just can’t wait to get on the road again.

The things you do for employment are weird, some people choose to slog their guts out lift and moving for as pittance. Some choose to sell, some choose to slack off as much as possible – but everyone should work. I spend my working life driving and talking to people, training, selling and drinking coffee – but I love it.

I do around 1400 miles a month, that’s not the most in the world when compared to some road warriors – but it’s enough to make it affect my body. The life sat driving is not one that should be taken lightly, it can make you weak and mess with your systems. My body is simply not meant to sit down for so long so I have to combat that by walking lots and standing up whenever I can.

Lows

Some people think it weird standing up and walking around the car park but if it keeps me healthy then I am willing to take a few strange looks. Food and drink are the most important thing when sitting – that could be in the car or parked at an office. Low carb and ultra low sugar are a must, but also lots of fibre will help with the stress on your digestive systems when sat down lots.

The road also not the best place to be full stop, the air around them is filled with exhaust fumes, brake dust and all sorts of horrible things! Motorway services are a particular delight but they are a necessary evil that also give you some laughs and some positivity!

Highs

There are positives to being out on the road, every day is different. You see some great places you wouldn’t had you not been sent to a particular place and you can meet some great people. There is something to be said about making every day different and being stimulated mentally.

You’re outside the box, but also outside the politics, antics and general misery of everyone been cramped behind a desk. You’re one step away from working outside – which is great in summer or winter it just depends on your outlook.
