On June 16, SimpleChain’s digital asset got listed on CoinEx. CoinEx held an AMA with Leo Yu, founding Council member of SimpleChain Foundation. Leo answered questions from the CoinEx community and presented SimpleChain’s mission, goals and achievements to the global audience.

Q1. What is your project’s main target in year 2020? and what is the vision and mission of the SimpleChain project?

In terms of technology, our main goal for 2020 is to to launch an upgrade version of the SimpleChain infrastructure. Cross-chain transactions can be performed between different types of public blockchains and federated blockchains, enabling different types of data exchange and value exchange.

We’re also going to launch a developer platform for business entities, and incorporate it into our Blockchain-as-a-Service platform. It will be a convenient tool for developers from various industries to set up their own applications on SimpleChain with easy-to-use modules and blocks.

But on the whole, our main focus and target in 2020 will still be about serving more types of businesses. We want to continue to find out what different business clients need in blockchain, and provide them with relevant, practical and easy-to-use blockchain solutions.

The mission of the SimpleChain project has always been to simplify the blockchain for business. Only when real-world businesses are really using the blockchain, blockchain can prove itself to be a good technology. That is our goal and focus. With a design of PoW main chain and flexible sub-chains, different sub-chains on SimpleChain can adopt different kinds of consensus and block data structure as needed, to enable a variety of applications and use cases on blockchain.

We’re not trying to present blockchain technology as rocket science or a mysterious geek tech. We are going to make it a more stable and more robust infrastructure for the Internet of Value.

Q2. What is the main application scenario of SimpleChain?

SimpleChain is a public chain that can support sub-chains and applications of all sorts. So far, SimpleChain has implemented applications in multiple fields such as judicial system, copyright protection, big data exchange, e-commerce, gaming and entertainment, and offline payment.

In terms of judicial system, SimpleChain’s first judicial sub-chain VeraxChain, and its Baoquan.com services deposited and authenticated the evidence in China’s first case accepting blockchain-based evidence. VeraxChain is in partnership with a number of law firms and authentication organizations, and has close connections with China’s three Internet courts and first online notary service.

On big data exchange area, SimpleChain is the underlying blockchain infrastructure for the Comprehensive Financial Service Platform for Zhejiang Provincial Government in China. This platform allows government to share the big data resource towards banks based on the blockchain authentication, so that the banks could have diversified data to modelling for credit loan issuance. On the other hand, since the data authentication happens on the SimpleChain, the data owner is able to tracking the data flow to prevent any data abuse. This platform nowadays has helped banks to issue over 120 billion rmb loan online without any offline paper work in just 6 months.

In terms of e-commerce, one of the typical case is SimpleChain helping GlobalTime — -a social e-commerce platform with 50 million users — — create a “blockchain + social e-commerce” model and change the relationship between the platform, vendors and consumers.

In terms of gaming and entertainment, Gaming platform Game World Chain (GWC) built a game publishing and rating system on top of SimpleChain. Based on blockchain digital assets, users can rate games, donate to game production teams and receive bonuses. We’ve also launched our first mobile blockchain Game XiaYiDao.

As for offline payment, the SimpleChain team and Wuli Coffee, a startup team from Zhejiang University jointly developed a blockchain smart coffee machine that supports SIPC payment. The automated coffee vendor machine has been installed around Zhejiang province covering 80k users daily.

In 2020, we are going to expand our application ecosystem with a focus on the financial area. Through financial applications on the blockchain, we can build a bridge between traditional finance and digital finance move real-world values into the digital world. I think that is one of the main trends for blockchain applications.

Q3. Does this covid-19 pandemic affect the SimpleChain network?

The SimpleChain network has over 13,000 nodes in 7 countries/regions worldwide. The network remained stable during the pandemic. Also, the SimpleChain community is distributed in various locations. We’re used to remote communication and collaboration, and the development of SimpleChain has been progressing as planned.

Actually, in the face of this covid-19 outbreak, the SimpleChain Foundation mobilized personnel and community members around the world to arrange resources.

The SimpleChain Foundation started charity sale and SIPC donation has received a lot of support from various countries/regions. Together with DataQin, the initiator of SimpleChain’s tech community, we donated 10,000 Hazmat suits to a nursing home in Wuhan and a number of hospitals in Zhejiang province in China.

DataQin has also developed a Material Tracing Platform on top of SimpleChain. All donations are recorded and tracked on the blockchain, and every donator will receive a donation certificate.

However, some impact still happens towards our plan of developer community building, through the new election of SimpleChain Foundation committee member, in addition to Prof. Piech from Poland, new members in UK, Iran, and Nigeria was planned to hold hackathon in universities. But the Coivid-19 have make us to transform online now, however, we will still plan to restart it in Mainland China first and all over the globe with the gradual recovery of the pandemic worldwide.

Q4. There are currently many teams working on public chain projects. How can you stand out and what are your advantages?

The openness of the SimpleChain network is definitely one of our main advantages. With our cross-chain features, SimpleChain can serve as a hub to transmit data between all the different blockchains.

On the other hand, as I mentioned earlier, we are focusing on providing solutions for business cases and solving real-world problems. Our developer tools are easy-to-use in a way that developers don’t need to understand the mechanisms of blockchain to build applications on top of SimpleChain. This is how we attract more and more developers to our ecosystem. We already have a lot of different use cases running on top of SimpleChain, and there’s going to be more in the future.

In terms of community, a unique and significant part of the SimpleChain ecosystem is the BVIP community. The BVIP community only accepts 100 high-net-worth members, and most of them are successful figures in various traditional industries. Each of them has invested 100,000 SIPC as well as their time into our project, and they are going to provide valuable connections that will link SimpleChain’s blockchain technology to different traditional industries, bringing more practical use cases onto the SimpleChain network.

Q5. For each project, community factors contribute a lot to the project’s success. So, what strategies do you have for community development and long-term user retention?

We’ve released a few programs to expand and grow our community, including a developer incentive program that encourages developers to improve our open-source codes and build on SimpleChain.

Other than that, we are developing training courses for colleges and universities as I mentioned before. With SimpleChain as infrastructure, they will learn to develop their own distributed applications. This will attract more developers and more use cases to our network. Because we have a comprehensive blockchain training package called ChainBox (named same as our mobile wallet) including text book, practical manual and SimpleNode X1(the mini miner), student could learn to use the Blockchain from mining and developing smart contract.

In the SimpleChain ChainBox, you’ll find Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence — A New Era of Digital Economy, an introductory book on blockchain with forewords by Vitalik Buterin. There’s also the Blockchain Operation Manual (Under Experiment Environment) to guide you through all aspects of a blockchain project. With the proper knowledge in place, students can then use SimpleNode X1 to start mining SIPC, and experience blockchain technology and crypto mining first-hand.

We also have a Community Ambassador Program, recruiting ambassadors worldwide to promote awareness and educate the wider community to drive the adoption of SimpleChain.

With a thriving community and a constant stream of applications, the SimpleChain network will continue to attract users and provide them with various kinds of services (and fun!) in our network.

Q6. Most investors just focus on the price of token in short term instead of real value of project. Can you tell us the motivation and benefits for long-term investors of SimpleChain?

SimpleChain is about simplifying the blockchain for business. The value of SimpleChain is never a short-term surge in price, but the potential of its thriving ecosystem and its applications in long lasting business use cases.

With our efforts to connect real-world businesses with blockchain technology, and our resources within traditional industries to make that happen, SimpleChain will serve as an infrastructure for the next-generation Internet of Value, and prove its long-term value in facilitating the data exchange and value exchange in this Internet of Value.

All the application I mentioned above is running upon the SimpleChain and therefore all miner are supporting the ledger and network for those service. SIPC is the token for cohering developers, investors, application users, and miners together, therefore we are treating the SIPC as a constant existing digital resource instead of simply a monetary instrument just as Dentons Rodyk mentioned in their legal opinion for SimpleChain.

Q7. Why do you choose CoinEx to list SIPC this time?

CoinEx is a reputable exchange on a global scale. We are impressed by CoinEx’s security, stability and efficiency, and we believe that CoinEx can provide the best user experience for SIPC traders. Also, with CoinEx providing services to nearly 100 countries/regions, SIPC can reach more users and it will be easier for global users to trade SIPC.

Both CoinEx and SimpleChian have a lot of potential to offer. Through this partnership, we believe that there will be long-term mutual benefits for users of both CoinEx and SimpleChain.

Q8. SimpleChain also develops its own mining machine. Why did you choose to develop your own mining machine? What are the advantages of SimpleChain in POW mining?

The SIPC mining machine we have now is called SimpleNode X1. Designed by the team of one of the SimpleChain Foundation members, it is a beginner-friendly miner and the exact opposite of average miners. It is very affordable, quiet during operations, small as a Rubik’s cube, and its plug-and-play feature allows everyone to simply connect it to a PC with a USB cable to start mining.

This is a great way to attract people, especially blockchain beginners to learn about blockchain, and join the SimpleChain network. The BVIP community I was talking about earlier is composed of successful figures from traditional industries. They might not be as tech-savvy as the younger generation. The mini miner is a perfect way for them to experience blockchain technology and crypto mining first-hand.

This lends an advantage to the SimpleChain network. The SimpleChain mining community is open not only to those who are already in the know about blockchain, but also to blockchain beginners, to everyone. This is bringing so much new potential and energy into the SimpleChain network, as well as into the whole blockchain industry.

About SimpleChain

The mission of SimpleChain is to simplify the blockchain for business.

SimpleChain is a PoW main chain with flexible sub-chains. Different sub-chains can adopt different kinds of consensus and block data structure as needed, to enable a variety of applications and use cases on blockchain. Sharding is also implemented to improve performance. This double-layered structure of one main chain and multiple sub-chains can fuel various applications while ensuring the consistency of the network.

Built on VeraxChain, SimpleChain’s first sub-chain, Baoquan.com provides record keeping services which serves to keep records of online data and authenticate electronic evidence. In June 2018, Hangzhou Internet Court of China judged a case of copyright dispute based on data stored on Baoquan.com. For the first time in China, the legal effect of the electronic data stored on blockchain is recognized in the judicial system.
