Met a foreign blockchain entrepreneur based in Hong Kong. He’s currently working on Dapps based on Ethereum and he’s doing a roadshow in mainland China.

We got chatting and surprisingly, he started talking about SimpleChain. I’m with people who are holding SIPC, but we were all surprised to hear from a foreigner about the SimpleChain project, since the community focus of the project is mainly within China.

He first got to know SimpleChain at a conference, and he believed that public chains like this will gain international attention. In light of President Xi’s recent endorsement of blockchain technology, he believed that favorable policies and a prosperous market in China will lead to great technology advancements. Tencent, Alibaba, and Huawei have become global leaders in the digital age, and the blockchain industrywill be no exception.

The blockchain technology is different in that it is inclusive. When you’re using the blockchain, you’re also part of it. For example, a user of SimpleNode is also a maintainer of the SimpleChain network. This two-way feature is something that Internet products like cellphones do not have.

The blockchain entrepreneur also raised the example of how Huawei was accused of leaving a backdoor and threatening user privacy. However, because Huawei’s technology is a closed system, it’s difficult for users to verify. As for blockchain, even if a public chain is developed by Chinese, it can still be verified and operated globally. Its value is maintained by users all over the world. Therefore, he believed that it’ll be easier for China to export public chains than to export other technologies.

About SimpleChain

The mission of SimpleChain is to simplify the blockchain for business.

SimpleChain is a PoW main chain with flexible sub-chains. Different sub-chains can adopt different kinds of consensus and block data structure as needed, to enable a variety of applications and use cases on blockchain. Sharding is also implemented to improve performance. This double-layered structure of one main chain and multiple sub-chains can fuel various applications while ensuring the consistency of the network.

Built on VeraxChain, SimpleChain’s first sub-chain, Baoquan.com provides record keeping services which serves to keep records of online data and authenticate electronic evidence. In June 2018, Hangzhou Internet Court of China judged a case of copyright dispute based on data stored on Baoquan.com. For the first time in China, the legal effect of the electronic data stored on blockchain is recognized in the judicial system.
