Day 2 of my 31-day fun challenge.

My niece is expecting her first child and I received an invitation to her babyshower to be held in a small town in southwest Oklahoma. Most of my husband’s family live within 30 minutes of this town. So of course, I would travel to my sister- and brother-in-law’s home to attend.

We decided to leave before lunch on Friday, since my husband is retired, and not tied to his home office desk anymore. We started toward Oklahoma, taking our usual route across US-380 to US-287 through Wichita Falls.

As we approached the Texas — Oklahoma border, my husband says, “Look at the map app and find a shorter route that doesn’t make us go all the way to Lawton and back across to Shorty and Jeannie’s house. Sure enough, there were several.

“Looks like they’re all on country roads. It says we can get off at Exit-1. That will take us along a road by that line of casino’s. If you want to stay on the highway a bit longer, we can take the Randlet exit instead and pick up the same route,” I said.

Off we went.

Oh! GPS Navigation. What…
