Day 7 of my 31-Day Fun Challenge

It’s so easy to get distracted by the difficulties in life. We are bombarded with so many duties we have to perform: laundry, house cleaning, yard work, cooking, childcare, not to mention our employment.

Then we are blasted apart by bad news nightly from our favorite reporters. It’s unending. It’s overwhelming. It’s exhausting.

Pretty soon we stop noticing moments of levity that lighten our moods or give us joy. It’s hard to have fun when so much brings us down, even if we turn off the TV and silence social media.

We are inundated with tragedy

My husband and I saw the horrific scenes of homes washed away in Vermont while homes slid down mountains in California.

It’s unimaginable, and scary.

Could that happen to us? We’ve had foundation problems before. We’ve had cracks in our walls, slab leaks, broken sewer lines and backyard floods. I have nightmares that our extensive repairs are doomed to fail. Eventually.

Surely, it’s inevitable.

Doom seems just around the corner
