It has been HOT in Texas. I mean “blister your bare feet, and don’t go out after 10 AM” hot. Triple digits for a week hot — thermometer heat. High humidity accompanied that heat. Sometimes it’s felt like 115F.

A killing heat — literally.

Imagine my apprehension when my husband said a blouse I had ordered had been delivered. Not to our front door, though. It was in our mailbox. Our mail gets delivered to a central location that is divided into locked boxes assigned to each home. It’s a quarter mile from our house.

It was 3:00 PM when he told me, the hottest part of the day. Oh, no!!!

Delight!!!

Imagine my surprise when I glanced with trepidation at the outdoor thermometer device we keep on our bar. I expected the worst.

Maybe I’d just drive.

Surprise!

Today was an unimaginable gift. It was COOL! A light breeze, 84F, 35% humidity, and blissful clouds. Ahhh! Delightful. A perfect day to walk to my mailbox and back. A glorious day.

I didn’t need my sunglasses or a hat to shade my head. It was no more sunny in the middle of the street than it was…
