How a squirrel feeder works is demonstrated by a red squirrel.

Grey squirrels have been banished from the island of Anglesey off the North Wales coast allowing the native red squirrel to flourish. This feeding station provides nuts and seeds, in a way that stops birds from using them, while the population of red squirrels becomes established. The weight of the lid is too heavy for birds to lift but is easy for the squirrels.
