A walk in the wooded areas around where I live, after a storm, after days of unrelenting rain, grey skies, no stars, and a single clear day, but still frost, showed the very first signs.

The frost will eventually loosen its grip, and the tiny shoots that promise daffodils and tulips will grow bigger and, one day, bloom.
