Days of Our Lives.
Even when things are not going our way, we will strive together and bend things to our will.
Some days, we’ll revel in the milestones we can celebrate,
I will show up with a bottle of champagne and blueberry cupcakes.
Some days we will make each other feel grand through elaborate plans,
On other days, we will just laze around on the bed in our sweats just because we can.
Some days our plans will turn into ashes, as we’ll get bombarded with urgent things to do.
And on other days, unexpected, impromptu dates will come to the rescue.
Some days, turmoil and chaos will get the better of us,
In those moments, just simple things in our routine would soothe our souls and give us comfort.
Some days, we will press the wrong buttons and get on each others’ nerves,
Or just hurt each other through inconsiderate actions or futile words,
On those days, we would fill our calendars only to have all the hard conversations,
We wouldn’t let problems brood, and only move on till we solve complications.
Some days we will be successful at giving just the best surprises,
The other days, revealing surprises to you would be the first prize.
Some days, each other’s most important events might get missed,
The next day we will make it up with lots of effort and a heartfelt kiss.
We’ll be deliberate and thoughtful as that would be the only thing in our control.
Some days you will cover for me and some days I will cover for you.
Some days this relationship might take a backseat because of other priorities.
For example, loads of piled-up work, scary health issues, or troubled friends and family.
On those days, I hope we’re around and patiently wait for things to settle down,
To go back to days all our own, we’ll show immense grit, we just won’t quit.
Some days we will push each other for our growth and well-being in ways we don’t like,
But we will be right there supporting ourselves in the deep dive.
Some days you will lift me, some days I will lift you.
Some days will be reserved only for ourselves and all our frolic and action,
We will let our inner children bloom with laughter, adventure, and passion.
We’ll sandwich these days with abundance of quiet,
We’ll go for long walks to relish the most captivating sunrises and sunsets.
Hand in hand, we’ll embrace the ride, absorb the bad and ugly in our stride,
We stand by each other and go the extra mile with unwavering pride.
Darling, don’t you worry. With grace, we will persevere through life together.
Our funerals should talk about how much we loved each other,
And how we passed with a waving flag each time we were put through tests,
And no matter what, how we lived each day to the fullest.
Because I have decided, I want to build this life with you,
Intentionally curate all my days for you, with you.
