What is NEM?

NEM is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency and blockchain platform launched on March 31, 2015. Written in Java, with a C++ version in the works, NEM has a stated goal of a wide distribution model and has introduced new features to blockchain technology such as its proof-of-importance (POI) algorithm, multisignature accounts, encrypted messaging, and an Eigentrust++ reputation system. The NEM blockchain software is used in a commercial blockchain called Mijin, which is being tested by financial institutions and private companies in Japan and internationally.

NEM technology allows multiple ledgers to coexist on one blockchain. NEM Smart Assets allows users to create mosaics which can represent any asset (e.g. currency). All transactions in NEM have transaction fee associated with them and denomination used to pay for transactions is mosaic named XEM.

NEM Nano Wallet tutorial

NEM does not have a web wallet like MyEtherWallet, so have to use NEM wallet on your computer, you must first go to the official website to download and install the desktop wallet: https://nem.io/downloads/

After decompressing and starting after installation, you will see the initial screen, click on “SIGN UP” in the upper right corner.

Click “Simple wallet”

Click "Ready"

There will be three options here: Mainnet (main network), Testnet (test network), Mijin (NEM’s private chain version, with higher performance)
Select “Mainnet” and then click “Next”

The next step is to name the wallet and set a password.

click “Start”

An interesting step occurs after the password is set: Please click on start and move your cursor around to add more entropy.

click “Next”

The warming message is to tell you that the next step is very important to make sure you have all needed information to restore your accounts.

You can download the raw wallet by clicking “Download wallet” button or write down the raw wallet data from “Show raw wallet file” and then click “I have my wallet file”.

write down the private key by click “Show private key” on paper or save it into a file and then click “I have my private key and password”

click “I agree”

Finally, click “I agree” and your wallet address will appear. Anyone can send XEM to you by your wallet address (also send XEM to me — NCWZSUF4FPXJY3L3Y7657QNVBIUZ5D54F4TNJ64S)

The wallet is created! Press Login, select wallet, enter your password to login

successfully entering the wallet is as figure and your transaction history and Harvest displays on wallet.

Harvest comes from the proof of importance (POI) of NEM. Unlike general POW mining, POI is an advanced version of POS. It assigns block rewards based on the user's trading volume, activity, trading objects, etc., and has at least 10,000 XEM accounts to join this ecosystem. Promote the mobility and activity of the entire NEM economy.

To get account information such as address, public key, private key, importance score, balance, etc., click on Account at the top right to view.

How to send XEM?

Click Send at the top left to enter the send screen. The operation is quite simple. Fill in the address (To) and quantity (Amount) to send to send your XEM. In addition, you can add messages and choose three forms: Hexadecimal, Unencrypted, Encrypted.

For general transactions, if you want to add a message with Unencrypted or Hexadecimal, Encrypted’s message exchange may not support it.

Wait a few minutes after sending, the confirmed transaction will appear in the Dashboard transaction record

How to send Mosaic?

Mosaic is the same as ERC20 in Ethereum and Mosaic is NEM's smart asset standard. Anyone can create mosaics on the NEM blockchain, custom names, release quantities, transportability and taxation functions, and more. XEM itself is a mosaic, defined as nem:xem.

check the “Mosaic transfer” option at the bottom, and the Attach mosaic field that sends the mosaic will appear:

The default is nem:xem. Select mosaic which you want to send. In my case, the mosaic is blogpay:blogpay and click “Attach” to set the quantity you want to send. send!

After the successful mosaic is sent, the transaction history on the Dashboard will be displayed as follows:

NEM Nano Wallet has many features such as multi-signature, creating Namespace namespace, voting…etc. In addition, NEM Nano Wallet supports mobile. You can find it in both the App Store and Google Play .

How to get test XEM ?

fill in your wallet address and then wait until the second step is completed. When the second step is complete, you enable the third step and then click “Claim” button. You will get 3 test XEM.

Note:

You cannot find “Send, Service and Explorer buttons”. Please check the status of Nodes. Red means offline. Please change the node until the color of status is green.
