Tampines GRC is led by Education Minister Heng Swee Keat after ex-Minister for National Development Mah Bow Tan left the Cabinet following the 2011 general election.
Tampines GRC has faced a contest in every general election except the 1997 general election, in which the National Solidarity Party was disqualified. In the 2001 and 2006 general elections, the PAP’s opponent was the Singapore Democratic Alliance.
