Tile Mate Bluetooth Tracker

Four years ago Mike Farley cofounded Tile with a simple goal: he wanted to help his wife, Camila, who was always losing things. The list was very long! It included a half dozen jackets; a cell phone; motorcycle keys; backpacks — even a rental car. After she lost her mother’s ruby ring, she cried for days. They turned the apartment upside down and posted signs on street lamps. They never found the ring.

Farley was inspired to help Camila so she would never feel that sense of loss again. They launched a crowdfunding campaign to see if other people had the same problem, and discovered thousands of people who lost all sorts of precious things: laptops, bikes, keys, wallets, purses and passports.

The idea for Tile was simple: a small, affordable device people could attach to the things they didn’t want to lose. It would send frequent, private signals to the owner’s smartphone and the Tile network so it could always be located.

They shipped the original Tile in June 2014. A little over two years later, they have sold 6 million Tiles and they help people find half a million items each day — a testament to the value of helping people keep track of the things that matter to them most. They’ve heard it all: A little girl found a lost stuffed penguin in Times Square. A guy was able to recover a stolen car in California. One lady found her cat hiding under the porch.

Tile continues to provide consumers with cutting-edge solutions to help them locate the things that matter to them most. Joining the recently released Tile Slim in the company’s product family, Tile Mate is the next iteration of Tile Original, the world’s best-selling Bluetooth tracker.

Smaller, lighter and more versatile, Tile Mate builds on everything consumers love about Tile. Designed with a convenient hole for attachments, and 25% smaller than Tile Original, Tile Mate fits seamlessly into consumers’ everyday lives. Just as Tile Slim was purpose-built for wallets, Tile Mate is the perfect go-with-anything companion to hook onto keys, purses, luggage and more. Consumers will now be able to purchase both products together in the new Tile Mate and Tile Slim Combo Pack.

“With Tile Mate and Tile Slim, we continue to push the design of our products to bring consumers peace of mind in multiple shapes and sizes. In combination with our app and smart location network, Tile Mate and Tile Slim work together to help people find their keys, wallet, phone, just about anything,” said Mike Farley, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Tile.

Tile carefully considered every detail of both Tile Mate and Tile Slim to achieve new levels of style, function and performance, all while making the products as compact as possible. The products were designed in partnership with award-winning design firm fuseproject, founded by renowned designer Yves Béhar. Boasting a thoughtful, simple aesthetic, Tile Mate and Tile Slim have a minimal, clean design with a smooth, matte feel that allows them to work with a wide variety of items.

“Tile Mate and Tile Slim were designed with the user in mind; by working closely with Tile’s product team, we were able to make the products as compact as possible, while adding subtle exterior details and finishes to showcase the quality of these products,” said Yves Béhar, founder and Principal Designer at fuseproject. “The multitude of expanded use cases these two new products provide takes Tile’s core proposition to a whole new level.”

Tiles are simple and easy to use. Customers can ring their things with one of Tile Mate’s four preset ringtones, or use it in reverse to find their phone — even if it’s on silent. They can also see the last place they had their item on a map, and if the item has been moved, they can enlist the power of the Tile community to help them find it.

“Tile has built the world’s largest lost-and-found network, spanning more than 200 countries and territories and locating more than half a million things every single day. We have sold more than six million Tiles — a testament to our best-in-class design and reliability,” said Farley.

In addition, Tile recently announced the Tile Smart Location Platform, which makes it possible for other companies to give their own products the power of smart location. Tile technology is already being embedded into products like the Nomad PowerPack, EcoReco scooter and Zillion wallets.

Tile Mate retails for $25 each, or $70 for a 4-pack, and is available online from Tile. It will be sold in retailers nationwide including Amazon, Apple, AT&T, Best Buy, Sprint, T-Mobile, Target and Verizon beginning on Wednesday, October 12. Consumers can also purchase the new Tile Mate and Tile Slim Combo Pack of 4 Tiles available online today for $90 from Tile.
