Video sizes on social media — August 1, 2018

Videos are the most attractive and creative way to get the attention of your followers.

Instagram

On Instagram, you can add videos up to 1 minute with .MP4 or .MOV format, and a maximum file size of 4GB.

Square video: 600 x 600 pixels (1:1 aspect ratio)
Horizontal video: 600 x 315 pixels (1.9:1 aspect ratio)
Vertical video: 600 x 750 pixels (4:5 aspect ratio)

Facebook

Facebook provides a vast variety of video sizes and formats for its users.

Page cover video

Recommended size: 820 x 462 pixels
Minimum size: 820 x 312 pixels

Post video: 1280x720 pixels

360 video: you can use videos from 600 pixels wide to 4096 x 2048 pixels, 2:1 aspect ratio.

Twitter

The file size limit to upload a video on Twitter is 512MB. You can upload videos up to 140 minutes in .MOV format for mobile and .MP4 for the web.

Horizontal video recommended size: 1280 x 1024 pixels
Vertical video recommended size: 1200 x 1900 pixels
Supported aspect ratios: 1:2.39–2.39:1

LinkedIn

Videos up to 10 minutes long with a maximum file size of 5 GB. Supported video formats are .ASF, .AVI, .FLV, .MOV, .MPEG-1, .MPEG-4, .MKV, and .WebM.

Maximum post size: 4096 by 2304 pixels
Minimum post size: 256 by 144 pixels
Aspect ratios: 1:2:4–2:4:1

Instagram

The platforms support vertical, horizontal and square images. Originally Instagram only preferred square images which is more appropriate even now as the profile section of an Instagram page shows all your posts squared.

Profile Picture: 110x110 pixels. Keep your images centered as when the profile picture is cut to make it circular your image won't get cropped.

Post image

Recommended image size is a fixed width of 1080 pixels and height a size in between the size for landscape and portrait mode.

Landscape: 1080 by 566 pixels
Portrait: 1080 x 1350 pixels
Square: 1080 x 1080 pixels

Stories: 1080x1920 pixels

Facebook

Profile picture: 720, 960 or 2048 pixels width, 1:1 aspect ratio
