A Tried and Tested Gourmet Breakfast Recipe for One
Shakshuka, a fun and complicated sounding word for a dish; it is one of the easiest things I learnt to make from professional chefs popular on social media.
This is the perfect Sunday brunch recipe for those who enjoy good food and don’t want to give up their solitude at the same time!
What you will need
Eggs- 3 or 4- small sized
Slices of bread
For the sauce-
Tomato -one, coarsely chopped
Tomato puree- about four tablespoons
Capsicum and peppers- mixture of what you prefer or what is available- about half a cup when chopped
Onion- one small- chopped
Garlic- 3-4 cloves- sliced
Cumin powder, ground pepper, paprika or red chilli powder or flakes
Dried mix herbs- thyme, oregano- based on availability and/or preference
Basil and coriander leaves to garnish, if available
Salt to taste
Sugar- a pinch- to balance the flavours
Water- about half a cup- to balance the consistency

Once the sauce begins to simmer, poach the eggs in the sauce.
Cover to cook for three to four minutes.
Turn off the heat once the yolks of the eggs are cooked to the desired level.
Sprinkle some more dried herbs, pepper and serve with toasted bread.
