Even When Single, You Do Not Need to Buy Dips from the Store
To save time single people tend to buy more ready-to-serve bottled dips. But if you want to avoid preservatives in your food, here is a ten-minute salsa recipe you can make at home.
It can be had fresh or stored in the refrigerator for a week. Also makes a fancy serving if you have company.
What you will need
Tomatoes- two
Onion- one small or half of a big onion
Cucumber- a small piece (optional, but recommended)
Green pepper and/or green chillies- as per taste
Cilantro/ Coriander/ Basil/ Oregano- as per availability- fresh or dried
Olives- one tablespoon
Juice of one lemon
Cumin and black pepper powdered- if available
Sugar- a pinch- to balance the flavours
Salt to taste
(Use extra virgin olive oil to preserve it if you want to store it for a week.)
Preparation
Coarsely chop all vegetables.
Add the seasoning and spices.
Keep chopping and mixing with a knife till desired consistency is achieved.
(You can use a mechanical chopper too, if you have one.)
Add olive oil dressing if you need to store it in the refrigerator for later use.
