Each week, we publish a report (see last week report) informing about the NAV of the fund, its composition, its performance and we give a few highlights about the fund strategy and our vision of the crypto market. Each month, we will publish a report focusing on the performance analysis and explaining how the performance of the fund compares to other assets. Here is the first monthly report.

Performance from May 31 to June 30

Performance analysis June 2017

This chart shows the evolution of the NAV of the Singularity Fund compared to the evolution of the value of several benchmarks. Benchmarks are assets used as a reference to compare performance with the performance of a fund or strategy. For the Singularity Fund, we chose 3 benchmarks:

  • CRyptocurrency IndeX (CRIX): this is an index representing the crypto market as a whole . See more information about CRIX.
  • Bitcoin (BTC): this is the reference of the market, representing now a little bit less than half of the capitalisation of the whole crypto market.
  • Ether (ETH): the second biggest valuation, growing very fast.

On the chart above, all the assets (Singularity Fund, CRIX, BTC and ETH) are indexed in order to be able to compare their evolution (they all start at 100).

The chart can therefore be understood the following way:

If I invested $100 on May 31, what would be the value on June 30 if it was invested either in the Singularity Fund, in the whole market (CRIX), in BTC or in ETH?

  1. Singularity Fund: $134.61 (perf 34.61%)
  2. ETH (ether): $132.93 (perf 32.93%)
  3. CRIX (index crypto market): $115.84 (perf 15.84%)
  4. BTC (bitcoin): $115.69 (perf 15.69%)

This is a very positive result, because despite the fact that a significant proportion of the fund is allocated to long term projects, the short term performance of the Singularity Fund outperforms all the market benchmarks. It means our diversification efforts are effective in reaching a good risk/return ratio and that the fund performs well in turbulent markets (2 severe crashes in June).
