Greetings Singularitarians,
It has been an incredibly exciting four months! Since the launch of our token in May we have been running our airdrop and working hard to release the beta platform, liquidity pools and staking functionality. We have now reached the end of the airdrop, and at the start of August we successfully launched our beta, the reaction to which has been astonishing. Most of you know just how successful the launch was, but for those who are not yet aware you can find all the details regarding the launch, airdrop and upcoming events here.
With the airdrop and beta now complete, we have our sights set on releasing the Launchpad and first DynaSets. Keeping up with this pace requires an ever evolving team and strategy. We believe in hiring the best people and giving them considerable autonomy, and now that SingularityDAO is in a financial position to hire the best people for the job, we have begun filling positions throughout the company. Today it is my absolute pleasure to introduce to you our new CTO (Chief Technology Officer) and Head of Artificial Intelligence, Chris Poulin.

Chris Poulin was most recently a research scientist and managing partner at Patterns and Predictions, a predictive analytics group. Before that, he was a machine learning and data science subject matter expert with Microsoft (senior director). He also served as director/principal investigator of the Durkheim Project, a nonprofit big data collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Facebook, Inc., sponsored by DARPA (The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), and was co-director of the Dartmouth Metalearning Working Group at Dartmouth College, which focused on large-scale machine learning (sponsored by IARPA). Poulin has lectured on artificial intelligence and big data at the U.S. Naval War College. He is co-author of the book Artificial Intelligence in Behavioral and Mental Health (Elsevier, 2015).
It was while at a DARPA Deep Learning conference in 2009 that Chris and Ben first met. At that time Chris was of course aware of Ben as, a) Ben was already considered one of the key AI leaders of his generation and b) Ben was the first person in the US with patents in NLP and finance (Chris was the second).
At the conference, Ben and Chris found common ground in their skepticism of the ‘brute force approach to AI based on simulation of the neocortex as the holy grail’ that was the Deep Learning community of 2009. Since Chris had trained at MIT (Minsky et al), he was more aligned with the Cognitive Science approach consistently championed by Ben. A year later, Chris invited Ben to be his co-investigator at a machine learning lab at Dartmouth College that Chris was trying to get off the ground. They have worked together ever since.
When asked what drew him to join us at SingularityDAO, Chris informed me that his reasons were myriad. First, and quite frankly, he said that it was his trust and belief in Ben, which I think we all share. He then continued to name a number of the other amazing AI scientists and researchers that work with us as people he looked for the opportunity to collaborate with. Of course with Chris’ skills he would be at home anywhere in the SingularityNET ecosystem, but with his long background in not only AI, but also Finance and Financial AI in particular, SingularityDAO was the obvious choice and we are honoured to welcome him to the team as our new CTO.
What is a CTO?
A chief technology officer (CTO) is the highest technology executive position within a company, and leads the technology or engineering department. They develop policies and procedures and use technology to enhance products and services that focus on external customers. The CTO also develops strategies to increase revenue and performs a cost-benefit analysis and return-on-investment analysis.
Along with performing tasks related to the above description of a CTO, Chris will be taking on the role of ‘Head of AI’, with him at the helm of an already world class Artificial Intelligence team, we are in a position to deliver the most cutting edge AI technology, to the most cutting edge financial markets. SingularityDAO is where AI meets DeFi.
I asked Chris if he could summarise his role with us in one and if there was anything he would like to say to you all, the community. He was quick to share his belief that the community is the driving force behind what we are doing here at SingularityDAO, SingularityDAO and Crypto, so let me finish with two quotes from the man himself.
