NEW YORK, NY 15th August, 2023 — Leading technology, research and government experts have launched the ‘Open AI Safety/Artificial Immune Systems community (OpenAIS)’, aimed to combat rising safety concerns around AI’s recent advancements. The community will pioneer ‘Artificial Immune Systems’, solutions designed to build Trusted AI — protecting AI against cybersecurity threats, software errors, and most importantly malicious AIs. It will enable businesses to stay current on assessing AI threats and deploying trusted solutions.

As recent as July 2023, the FBI warned that generative AI can help hackers create and optimize malware, phishing emails, and fake identities. One example of such malware is FraudGPT, which can generate convincing fake invoices and documents to trick victims into paying or downloading malicious files. In 2019, researchers discovered that Emotet, a notorious trojan that spreads via spam emails, used AI to generate convincing subject lines and body texts to lure users into opening the attached files that contain malwares.

OpenAIS has been launched by leading Artificial General Intelligence organization SingularityNET, alongside secure AI innovation business, PureCipher and the Machine Perception and Cognitive Robotics Laboratory (MPCRL) at the Florida Atlantic University. PureCipher will provide solutions based on Artificial Immune Systems, Fully Homomorphic Encryptions and Universal Watermarking technologies to ensure data authenticity and prevent or mitigate attacks to Artificial Intelligence systems.

Dr. Ben Goertzel, CEO of SingularityNET, stated: “The rapid onset of AI presents known and unknown threats to humanity that need to be addressed immediately. Trusted AI, leveraging strong encryption technology at the foundation, is a crucial requirement for responsible AI deployment and Artificial General Intelligence development. This is a key aspect of SingularityNET’s mission of democratizing access to secure AI solutions and fostering community driven AI innovation.”

Dr. William Hahn, Founder & Director of MPCRL, and a Co-Founder & Chief Science Officer of PureCipher, shared his excitement, saying: “The collaboration with PureCipher and SingularityNET holds great promise for shaping the future of AI. Together, we can make AI safer, more accountable, and drive advancements in securing AI systems against potential threats.”

Ms. Wendy Chin, Founder & CEO of PureCipher, expressed her enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating: “By joining forces with the Machine Perception and Cognitive Robotics Laboratory and SingularityNET, PureCipher is committed to creating a new era of Trusted AI. Together, we envision a future where AI is harnessed responsibly, delivering both innovation and peace of mind.”

About Trusted AI

Trusted AI refers to AI that is secure against hacking and software errors, ensuring the protection of data and integrity of the system. While it doesn’t directly imply the trustworthiness of AI in providing factual statements, having a secure and reliable AI system is a critical milestone in the responsible and secure adoption of artificial intelligence across different industries. As paradigms in technology shift and businesses scramble to keep up, OpenAIS will enable businesses to stay current on assessing AI threats and deploying trusted solutions.
