The Decentralized Governance Summit: A new beginning
The 2023 progressive decentralization initiative of SingularityNET is kicking off with a Decentralized Governance Summit — Join us on April 21, 14:30 UTC
Greetings Singularitarians,
Get ready for a new phase of activity at SingularityNET! We’re excited to provide a special update from our new Decentralization Program Lead, Esther Galfalvi, providing some additional background on the importance and thinking behind the upcoming Decentralization Summit:
Last autumn, we published the Decentralization Report in a joint effort between the SingularityNET Supervisory Council and myself. In the report, we explored the current landscape of decentralization and decentralized organizations. We felt this would provide some context to SingularityNET’s first steps towards decentralizing. We found that while there are many efforts to decentralize in the DAOspace, and many interesting governance experiments, effective mechanisms for fair and democratic community leadership are few and far between.
Today we would like to share with the community a SingularityNET Community DAO Initiation Document, which, ahead of the 2023 Decentralized Governance Summit, heralds a new phase of active development of the SingularityNET’s future DAO structure. This initiation document outlines some of the first steps that we feel are critical in initiating truly decentralized governance for the SingularityNET organization, and we hope you will take the time to study and think about it.

Decentralized Governance Summit
Our Decentralized Governance Summit will bring together a wide range of speakers from across the DAOspace and beyond. Ecosystem experts and pioneers in the field of decentralization will come together to share a wealth of knowledge from their research and their own experiences in decentralizing organizations.
Decentralization is essential to the process of creating open, ethical Artificial Intelligence. A community-driven enterprise can make it easier for people to move forward on ideas that might get less traction in a normal hierarchical organization. Even more importantly, the community can provide the checks and balances, the voices of debate, and constructive dissent to increase the chances of safe, aligned Artificial Intelligence.
The community is going to be front and center in defining the processes of the Community DAO. That is why we are all coming together on Friday — to learn together and pool our ideas about how to move forward.
Next Steps — Seed SingComDAO
After the summit, we will carry our learning forward and consult together to create the seed structure of decentralization — Seed SingComDAO — which the community will then develop into a fully-fledged Community DAO.
The creation process will be iterative, evolving as we learn what works — and what doesn’t work. Friday’s Summit is a chance to think through the options, the challenges, and the opportunities that are before us. At the end of the event, we’ll come together to discuss all our ideas about how we want our new organizational reality to be.
Together, I believe we have the power to create the ideal ground to foster new projects and the very best in quality and safety. It will not be simple or straightforward — but the community of SingularityNET is poised and ready to take the next evolutionary step together. The benefits of creativity, transparency, and justice will, I believe, make it well worth the work.
