Progressive industries to adopt the BeiDou satellite system by 2022.
According to Nasdaq, the BeiDou navigation satellite system to develop products and services worth 1 trillion USD by 2025.
BeiDou has been one of China’s highest priority technology development programs for China in the 21st Century.
It’s a Chinese satellite navigation system that will provide positioning services for the country’s national security and is currently used to track deliveries, logistics, and infrastructure construction. But soon it will affect many more industries:
- 5G Networks: BeiDou will supplement new 5G networks in low-density areas, where communication infrastructure is nonexistent. Remote islands, deserts, forests could now have efficient internet connectivity.
- Autonomous driving: from 6.5 million in 2019 to 90 million autonomous vehicles forecasted for 2025 in China. They will require systems combining high-speed communication and intelligent driving systems.
- Smart cities: China is already planning for a world where most civilian vehicles will be autonomous, using an intelligent traffic protocol. And the same goes for managing electricity systems, gas and public transport.
